    Dear Customer

    Important roadworks information

A11 northbound and southbound between Thetford and Besthorpe – Renewal of resurfacing, road markings and studs

I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing, road marking and stud replacement works along the A11 both northbound and southbound between Thetford and Besthorpe. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface, as well as improved reflectivity of road markings and studs.

We plan to commence this work from Monday 6 July 2026. We will work Monday to Saturday between 8pm and 6am only, weather permitting.

    Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A11 in phases, as detailed below.

    Closure Dates
A11 southbound Besthorpe to London Road roundabout Monday 6 July to Saturday 8 August
A11 northbound London Road roundabout to Attleborough Monday 10 August to Wednesday 12 August
A11 southbound London Road roundabout to A1075 roundabout

    To be confirmed

A11 northbound A1075 roundabout to London Road roundabout To be confirmed

Please note, there will be no planned closures on Friday 31 July or Saturday 1 August.

During all phases, traffic will be diverted as follows:

    Southbound Diversion:

Southbound motorists will be diverted onto the A47 westbound at Thickthorn roundabout. At Swaffham, they will leave the A47 and join the A1065 towards Mundford. At the roundabout, they will turn left onto the A134 and will rejoin the A11 at Mundford Road roundabout.

    Northbound Diversion:

Please follow the same diversion route in the opposite direction

A map of the diversion can be found below.

We will write again to provide an update on future phases, including dates and times.
